The Hearne-Gidden House Project
December 16, 2017, Kosse, TX
From Houston to Ft. Worth, from the Woodlands to Dallas, and all in between, 20 detectorists from 9 different TAMDC supporting metal detecting clubs converged on Kosse, TX in partnership with the Kosse Heritage Society for a TAMDC GIVES BACK PROJECT on December 16, 2017. The TAMDC members were able to grid, recover, document, photo, and present over 100 different artifacts, along with a plaque and $313 raffle dollars to the Kosse Heritage Society and the Hearne-Gidden Restoration Project. I want to thank everyone who came out and supported this event. I would also like to thank the HARC for their Silver Morgan Dollar donation for a prize, and especially Ed Pavlasek and his 4-oz silver bank note he donated for our raffle. A shout out goes out to Keith Wills for helping me document all the finds. Congratulations to Byron Whitiker winner of the Oldest Coin-1919 Wheat Cent (no pic was blurry), Mark Lawhon winner of the Most Unusual Artifact- 2 1800’s lead printing plates, Earl Hitt winner of the Oldest Relic- mid 1800s stirrup, and Eric Gants winner of the Most Historical Artifact- M & W and Co. key hole cover. Karen Partin, President of KHS, was asked to pull a ticket for the raffle and she ended up pulling her own and winning the 4-oz silver bank note (how did she do that?) A special thank you to Karen and the members of the Kosse Heritage Society, who allowed this event to be possible. Overall, the weather was held off, the food was delicious, the fellowship of clubs was great, and the day was a blast. Looking forward to doing it again January 13, 2018 @ the Polley Mansion near Sutherland Springs, TX.
I’ll also be sending you another information flyer for the Polley Mansion Project…so you can go ahead and make a title and post like you did for the Hearne-Gidden Project for the Home Page that way people can see it and when you get the flyer you can post it under with a link to be downloaded.
